WHAT IS THE LITTER PICK CHALLENGE?

What is the litter pick challenge?
bushes background.png
From 16th September to 29th November 2024, we hosted our annual national competition to see which institution could collect the most litter on campus and in their community. The competition had four categories: University, College, Secondary School, and Primary School. Winners in each category received a free Hedgehog House and a bag of hedgehog food for their campus, courtesy of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

Every participant, regardless of their team’s final position, received a digital certificate. By joining this challenge, volunteers helped protect hedgehogs and other wildlife from becoming trapped or injured by litter, which can lead to suffocation or severe harm. Unfortunately, many hedgehogs die each year due to litter-related incidents.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the 2024 Big Hog Friendly Litter Pick Challenge. Plus, participating helped your institution on its journey to becoming a Hedgehog Friendly Campus or School!
