What is the litter pick challenge?

WHAT IS THE LITTER PICK CHALLENGE?

bushes background.png
Until the 30th November 2023, we are held a national competition to find out which institution can collect the most litter from campus and in the community. There were 4 categories: University, College, Secondary, and Primary School and the winner of each category received a free Hedgehog House complete with a bag of hedgehog food. Thanks to the British Hedgehog Preservation Society for the generous prize donation. All participants (whether from the winning team or not) received a digital certificate from us. By taking part in this challenge, volunteers helped hedgehogs and other wildlife in their community from potentially becoming trapped and entangled in plastic packaging, which can lead to suffocation or severe injuries from sharp or tight objects. Unfortunately, hedgehogs die every year because of this. Scroll down to read up on how you can get involved in our 2024 Big Hog Friendly Litter Pick Challenge. Need an incentive? It also helps Hedgehog Friendly Campus & Schools teams tick an action towards their award!
